Common questions

How long does a sump pump last?

It depends on how often it runs and the quality of the pump. A pump that cycles constantly every spring will wear faster than one that runs a few times a year. Test it regularly and replace it before it fails, not after.

Is a battery backup worth it?

In Columbus, the heaviest rain often comes with thunderstorms, which is also when power fails. A backup covers exactly that moment.

My pump runs when it isn't raining. Why?

Possible causes include a high water table, a stuck float, a failed check valve letting water drain back, or discharge water cycling back to the foundation. We check each.

Can you just replace the pump?

Yes. If the basin is sound, a straight pump replacement is common. We check the check valve and discharge at the same time.

Water on the basement floor?

Call or send the form. We set an inspection, show you where the water is getting in, and put the fix and its price on paper before anyone cuts concrete.
